Workington Comets v Scunthorpe Scorpions preview

Sep 21st, 2018

HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions enter the second leg of their Championship Shield semi-final at Workington tonight (Saturday, 7pm) knowing that victory on the night will also take them through to the final of the competition.

The two teams are tied together at 45-45, from the first leg which took place at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway a couple of weeks ago, which featured a dramatic comeback by Scorpions in the final two races.

Promoter Rob Godfrey says: “With the scores all level, it’s simple – whoever wins on the night will go through.

“Most people would probably rate the Comets as favourites, bearing in mind that it’s their home leg. But we showed fighting spirit to pull it level at our place, and anything can happen within 15 heats of speedway.”

Expected teams for tonight:

Workington Comets: 1. Nicolai Klindt, 2. Rasmus Jensen, 3. Ben Barker (guest), 4. Rene Bach, 5. Ty Proctor, 6. Kyle Bickley, 7. Mason Campton.

Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Steve Worrall (captain), 2. Stefan Nielsen, 3. Jason Garrity, 4. Jake Allen, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Danny Phillips, 7. Gino Manzares.
